Here we learn what Bro. George Washington was really like; how his friends, neighbors, soldiers, and statesmen regarded him. W.B. Curtis Bateman lets Bro. Washington tell his own story, though his words as he wrote them at the time. From his birth to his death, we learn about key moments in Washington’s life as a man and a Mason.
Away from home as often as Bro. Washington was, the Washington Gavel makes a symbolic return home to Potomac No. 5, as W.B. Bateman explains the history and significance of this artifact that is so intrinsically woven into our identity as a lodge.
